Georgia was presented at Frankfurter Buchmesse with diverse program, including such significant events as Guest of Honour Handover Ceremony, first official press-conference, the marathon of modern Georgian authors, presentations of new translations of Georgian Classics.

Up to 15 events with different content and topics were planned to be held in the frames of Frankfurter Buchmesse during 10-15 October. Above mentioned events are organized by Georgian National Book Center and Georgian Publishers and Booksellers Association, with support of Ministry of Culture and Monument Protection of Georgia.

The literary marathon of modern Georgian authors was held for the first time. Various Georgian authors took part in the marathon and present their latest German translations: Zurab Karumidze - Dagny or A Love Feast, Nestan (Nene) Kvinikadze - The Nightingales of Isfahan, Beka Adamashvili - Bestseller, Salome Benidze - The City on the Water and Lasha Bugadze - Lucrecia515. At Frankfurter Buchmesse was also presented new translations of Georgian classics, namely Collection of Poems by Nikoloz Baratashvili and Caucasian Novels by Grigol Robakidze.

Within the framework of Georgian program at Frankfurter Buchmesse were planned following activities: business meetings between Georgian and foreign publishers, a discussion dedicated to Georgian-German year as well as Cooperation Memorandum signing ceremony between the Georgian National Book Center and LTI Korea.

Furthermore Juergen Boss, President of the Frankfurter Buchmesse, will officially present Georgia to international media representatives as the Guest of Honour Country of Frankfurter Buchmesse 2018. 

On the 15th of October, 2017 France was officially handed over the status of the Guest of Honour Country of Frankfurter Buchmesse 2018 to Georgia.
