Born in 1959. He studied Philology at Tbilisi State University. Since 1981 he has worked at the Georgian Literature Institute, starting as an assistant and then as a full academic. He has published some twenty articles on various periods of Georgian literature. Since 1999 he has been appointed as an expert to the Ministry of Education’s Project for Reforming and Consolidating the Education System. He is also a founder-member of the National Centre for Evaluation and Examining and is in charge of the section of Georgian Language and Literature.
