SADGOBELASHVILI NINO
Born in 1980. Graduated from the State Institute of Culture in 2002, specialising in literary technique (the studio director being Vakhushti Kotetishvili). She worked as a literary editor for the Patriarchate radio station, and also as a teacher. In 2007 the director of the Lado Meskhiashvili Kutaisi Dramatic Theatre, Giorgi Sikharulidze, staged Nino Sadghobelashvili’s play, The Bombazine Paradise. In 2010, with Avto Varsimashvili as producer, a film of the same name was made. Several of her plays have been staged in various Georgian theatres. Since 2012 she has been working in Tbilisi’s Khomli film studio. In 2015 a documentary and historical film Queen Tamar was shot in Khomli, using her script. She is the author of two collections of poetry (Midnight Lullaby of 2007, Wings and Hands of 2011), and of stories (The Bombazine Paradise of 2006, The Lilac Season of 2013, Refuge of 2010). She has also written novels: Pregnant (2010), A Moment Here, A Moment There (2014), Theatre of Treasure (2015, a fantasy). Sadgobelashvili’s stories and poems have been translated into English, Lithuanian, Armenian, Azeri and Turkish. Rights of her novel Refuge are sold to: Gece Kitaplığı Publishing, 2016, Turkey.
