Born in 1976 is considered to be one of the most interesting contemporary writers in Georgia. David is a lawyer by education but has never worked in the legal field. His literary works have been regularly published in periodicals since 1999. His debut book Popuri instantly evoked readers interest and gained for the author highly esteemed award Tsinandali. His novel It was Evening, It was Morning released in 2006 still remains as one of his most popular works.  His short stories frequently appear in various popular anthologies, including: ‘15 Best Short Stories’, ‘Georgian Short Stories of the 21st Century’ and ‘Contemporary Georgian Fiction’, published by Dalkey Archive Press in 2012. In 2010-2011, David Kartvelishvili was the president of Georgian PEN-Centre. Kartvelishvili has authored four novels and is renowned for his short stories, which are distinguished by his original style and dynamic plots that keep readers in suspense. Currently he lives and works in the USA.
