Georgian National Book Center launched the first electronic database of contemporary Georgian authors. Database is integrated on the GNBC web-page www.book.gov.ge and is available for both Georgian and foreign audiences.

Presentation of the database was led by the director of Georgian National Book Center Medea Metreveli and the Minister of the Culture and Monument Protection, Mikheil Giorgadze. Vice President of FBF Tobias Voss, writers, translators and publishers attended the presentation.

The database is in English and is created in accordance with the best international experience and samples.

The database presents portfolios of the Post-Soviet period Georgian authors, including their biographies, bibliographies, information about literary awards, reviews of literary works and sample translations into English and German languages. The database is rich not only with textual, but also with photo material. Flexible search engine allows users to perform basic information searches simultaneously on a writer and his literature works.

Information about literature works is divided into following categories: fiction, non-fiction, poetry and children's book.

Database already contains several dozen authors and is constantly being updated.

Establishing the first complete internet database is especially important to promote Georgina authors and their works abroad.
The project will contribute to increase the interest in Georgian authors and to enhance awareness, copyright sales and numbers of translation of Georgian literature overseas.
Georgian National Book Center will continue collaboration with Georgian publishers and conduct all necessary activities to further develop the database and introduce to international audience contemporary Georgian literature processes.
