Georgian children's literature will be presented for the first time at the Georgian National Stand during Bologna Children’s Book Fair from March 30 to April 2, 2015. The Minister of Culture and Monument Protection of Georgia, Mikheil Giorgadze, and the director of Georgian National Book Center, Medea Metreveli presented the special program which is focused on promotion of Georgian literature at the International Book Fairs in Leipzig, Bologna and London.
Georgian National Book Centre is actively working towards the promotion of Georgian children's literature and since 2015 Georgia will be presented with National Stand at the Bologna book Fair. This is the first precedent of participation of Georgian Children’s literature within Georgian National Stand. 6 publishing houses focused on children’s literature will be represented on the Stand. The concept and design of the National Stand was developed and improved through consultations with the publishers. For the final design the original work made by Georgian young illustrator, Anna Chubinidze, created specially for the Georgian National Book Centre has been chosen.
Georgian National Book Center along with the Ministry of Culture promotes the rise of awareness of Georgian authors abroad, to sell copyrights, and introduce Georgian literature to foreign readers. During the spring 2015 Georgian National stand will traditionally participate in Leipzig and London Book Fairs.
Translations of Georgian Literature and the latest editions of Georgian publishers will find their place on the most important and influential Book Fairs within the National Stands. For example on March 12, within Leipzig Book Fair the presentation of “The Knight in the Panther’s Skin” by Shota Rustaveli published by German Publishing House Reihart is planned.
Representatives of Georgian National Book Centre will hold multiple meetings with the partner organizations, representatives of different International Book Fairs, foreign publishers, literature agents, translators.
