For the first time in the history of Georgian literature, Georgian author will be hosted at one of the most popular European literary festivals – Lit. Cologne. During the March, Guest of Honour country at the Frankfurter Buchmesse 2018 will be presented with 27 contemporary and classic authors and 50 literary events at the Leipzig Book Fair as well as in 7 German-speaking cities.
Various literary programs, including readings and presentations of 22 new German translations supported by the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Georgia, Georgian National Book Center and Conrad Adenauer Foundation will be held in Cologne, Leipzig, Berlin, Vienna, Salzburg, Halle and Frankfurt.
Nika Gelashvili, Aka Morchiladze, Rati Amaglobeli, Diana Anphimidi, Luka Bakunidze, Dato Barbakadze, Levan Berdzenishvili, Aleko Shugladze, Beso Khvedelidze, Nino Kharatishvili, Revaz Gachechiladze, Ekaterine Togonidze, Zurab Rtvellishvili, Lasha Bugadze , Kote Jandieri, Nato Ingorokva, Nika Jorjaneeli, Z. Rab Karumidze, Besik Kharanauli, Nino Sadgobelashvili, Zaza Burchuladze, Bondo Matsaberidze, Irma Shiolashvili will present their translations.
Within the Georgian Kick -off Literary program there will be held presentations of German translations of popular literary works by Otar Chiladze, Ilia Zdanevich, Guram Asatiani and Mika Aleksidze.
In parallel with the literary events, at the Leipzig Book Fair will be held the presentation of Guest of Honour country at the Frankfurter Buchmesse 2018. The president of the Frankfurter Buchmesse Juergen Boos will introduce the Head of the project- Georgia Guest of Honour country – Minister of Culture and Sports of Georgia Mikheil Giorgadze and the Director of the Georgian National Book Center – Medea Metreveli to the representatives of leading German media.
