SVIMONISHVILI AMIRAN (PAKO)

Born in 1974 in Tbilisi, Pako Svimonishvili was poet, translator, teacher and cofounder of G. Ramishvili authorized school in Tbilisi. He graduated in German Language and Literature and also was a post-graduate student at the Institute of Philosophy. Pako Svimonishvili has published five poetry collections. He was very productive as a translator and has translated into Georgian many important German-speaking authors like J.W. Goethe, F. Hölderlin, C. Brentano, E. Nolike, G. Keller, K. F. Meier, R. M. Rilke, G. Benn, G. Trakl etc. Also some works of modern Lithuanian, Belorussian and Turkish poets. The Literary Award “Amirani” for school students was founded when Amiran Svimonishvili passed away and was named after him. Amirani Svimonishvili’s poetry has been translated into German, Lithuanian Ukrainian, Circassian and other languages.
