SHENGELIA KETEVAN

Born in 1965, in Tbilisi, graduated from I. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Faculty of Philology. She is a Doctor of Philology. Ketevan also has studied scriptwriting and painting. She is the member of the 'Mnatobi' Writers’ Union and the Georgian Writers’ Union; also, she is the member of the International Society of Assyriology, Biblicists, and Caucasologists; the member of the Georgian-Spanish Cultural Center; the member of the Club of Friends of the State Folklore Center. Since 1985, her poems, assays, novels, translations, and literature works have been regularly published in literature magazines and newspapers. Her poems are translated in several languages and published different anthologies. Her poems were included in the Collection of Classical and Contemporary Georgian Poetry, translated in French and published in France. Ketevan Shengelia has a diverse working carrier: Literature-Memorial Museum of Ilia Chavchavadze; TV channel 'Mze'; in 1993-2007 she worked at the I. Javakhishvili State University and for 7 years was in charge of 'Arts Proficiency Circle'; She was the member of the Women’s Council at the University. She is an organizer of nearly one hundred literary events in which authors read from their work and converse with the audience. Since 2011, she is a lecturer of 'History of Georgian literature' and 'History of World literature' at the Georgian University and runs the literature studio. 2010, she was an author and host of one-year show called 'Conversations about World Artists' on the internet TV channel; in 2010-11 she was leading a radio program 'In the World of Beauty'. Based on her novel, director Z. Kandelaki staged a radio-play, which was broadcasted by the First Channel of the State National Broadcaster. Ketevan Shengelia regularly participates in television shows about literature. She has had fourteen personal poetry evenings. Since 2016 she leads a public project: 'Three arm-chairs for artists' and organizes meetings with poets, musicians and painters. Her work received seven essays from critics. In 2016 her poems were published in book 'Treasure of Georgian poetry'.
