KEKELIDZE GIORGI

Born in 1984 is a Georgian poet, essayist and the founder of the first Georgian digital library lib.ge. Since March 2012 Giorgi Kekelidze is the General Director of the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia. He graduated from the Department of Philology at Tbilisi State University with Master's degree in Humanitarian Sciences. From 2006 to 2008 he worked at the penal Institution of Rustavi as a teacher of the Georgian language and literature. Since 2009, he has presented various literary-critical programs at different radio stations. From 2010 he is a literary columnist for the popular magazine Tabula. He delivers lectures on Classical literature at the Free University of Tbilisi. In 2008 Publishing house Siesta published his debut poetry collection The Odes, which next year gained literary prize SABA. Successful collaboration between George Kekelidze and Siesta Publishers continued with the poem Raven under the framework of an experimental project 'A Book on a Plate', which instead of standard printing procedures implied delivering the book pages at supermarkets and selling them on the plastic plates. In 2012 George Kekelidze founded Charity Foundation Lib-Equilibrium, focusing on a social-educational activities for the students. In the same year, Free University and lig.ge launched a new literary program 'Interpretation' on the cultural tv channel 'Akhali Arkhi'. The program intends dicussions with the audience about reinterpretation of the classical literature. The host and the author of the program is Giorgi Kekelidze. He became a person of the year twice by the journal 'Hot Chocolate' survey in 2010, and in 2012. 2014 appeared especially successful for the author after his documentary prose Gurian Diaries instantly became No. 1 Best-selling book of the year. His poems are translated into English, German, Russian and Azerbaijani languages.
