BREGADZE LEVAN

Born 1947 in Tkibuli Levan Bregadze is author, literary critic and journalist. 1965-1974 he studied Georgian philology and journalism in I. Javakhishvili Tbilisi University. At various times he worked as a deputy editor of the almanac Kritika of the Georgian Writers’ Union, editor in the Translation Commission, deputy editor of the newspaper Mamuli, the editor of the newspaper Mshobliuri Kera, the literary magazine Kartuli Mtserloba and Gelati Academy Science Journal. For many years he has worked in Shota Rustaveli Institute of Georgian Literature. He is a memeber of Gelati Academy of Sciences (2003). Levan Bregadze is the author of more than twenty original and translated books, over 300 academic, critical articles and essays. The scope of his interests includes history and theory of literature, literary criticism, history and theory of journalism, folklore and linguistics.
