On September 7th and 8th the presentation of Georgian Book Market Research results will held in Kutaisi and Batumi. The Director of Georgian National Book Centre Medea Metreveli with the Chairwoman of Georgian Publishers and Booksellers Association (GPBA) Gvantsa Jobava will introduce research results to the representatives of universities, Writer’s Houses, cultural offices and literary society of Kutaisi and Batumi.

The research was conducted by ACT for Georgian National Book Center. This is the first comprehensive research from 2012.

The main objective of the research was to obtain full statistical information of years 2013-2015 on all components of the book segment, which will be used to develop strategic plan to assess the book market in overall, define existing problems, further development of the book market and expand the database of readers.

The aim of research is to identify the weaknesses of the book market based on the analysis of obtained information to make possible the development of specific recommendations to eliminate mentioned weaknesses.

In order to obtain information about all segments and components of Georgian book market, target segments were identified within the research, which more or less covers all segments of the book market. The area of the research included Georgia’s large cities, such as Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi and Telavi. 34 Publishing Houses and 700 readers were involved in the research.

Meetings of Director of Georgian National Book center and the Minister of Education, Culture and Sport of Autonomous Republic of Adjara and the representatives of culture offices of Batumi and Kutaisi will be held in order to enhance business contacts and plan future collaboration.
